3 D's

Distance, Duration, Distraction

What's involved

If your on this page, its possible you've moved up to level two.

In level two we are all about 'Proofing'! What's Proofing? Proofing a behaviour is when we start to add more to the criteria;

E.g. So instead of just asking your dog for a sit we are now going to ask your dog to sit for 10 seconds.

However, is that the end goal? No of course not, the end goal may be -  Asking your dog to sit for 1 minute while you are 10 steps away, while 2 dogs walk by or if we were to use an assistance dog example - asking your dog to sit at the leg of a trolley, in a busy shop for a few minutes while you popped across the aisle to grab that pint of milk you forgot!

To proof behaviour we gently introduce the 3 D's - Distance: the amount of space between you and your dog. Duration: the amount of time your dog has to do the behaviour. Distraction: your dog has to continue doing the behaviour even though there is something distracting like food or other dog there.

By adding in a different criteria we are proofing your dogs ability to do these behaviours in different situations, enabling your dog to be calm and steady in different surroundings.

Weekly Drop-in Classes

After finishing our block of intermediate classes pop along to our weekly drop-in sessions where you and your dog will have a chance to really nail down what you learned in this block.

Having trouble getting your dog to stay in one spot? Maybe your dog just cant get the hang of their emergency down? At our weekly drop-in intermediate classes we focus on what the group wish to work on that week, based around the behaviours learned in the intermediate block we will tailor each class to the needs of the owners and dogs in that weekly class, focusing on what you want to work on.
